ANGIEOwner/Groomer
Angie holds an MSA in Human Resources from Central Michigan University and spent 15 years in the corporate sector before discovering her true calling. She earned her grooming certification from Cornerstone Dog Grooming Academy in Clyde, Ohio, in February 2009 and has since groomed both dogs and cats. Angie has had the privilege of working in various daycare/hotel facilities and veterinary settings, offering exclusive cat grooming days, as well as salons catering to both dogs and cats simultaneously. Despite the noise and chaos, she observed significant differences in the behavior and stress levels of cats, and an increase in aggression when in the presence of dogs. These observations led her to establish Kitty Cuts Grooming, a cat-only salon. Angie has consistently advanced her expertise by attending trade shows, participating in classes and seminars to stay abreast of industry standards, and is certified in Pet CPR/First Aid. She is acknowledged as a certified Fear Free groomer as well. She has trained extensively with various Master Certified Cat Groomers and is a member of the National Cat Groomers Institute (NCGI), the sole certified cat grooming school in the US. Angie had always been a dog person, while growing up her family always had dogs and steered away from cats, however, it was when she got a cat from a friend in her 30's that she absolutely fell madly in love with him. A red male DSH named Peanut Butter that showed her what loving, in tune, tentative and sensitive creatures' cats are. Peanut Butter unfortunately passed away way too young to heart failure and he took a piece of her with him. His quiet, calm demeanor is what reminds her of why she founded Kitty Cuts Grooming; she wants all cats to be as confident and unafraid as he was. Angie now has a red DSH girl named Mango who is the exact opposite and must be catered to; but she wouldn't have it any other way! |

LAURENApprentice Groomer
Lauren joined Kitty Cuts in June 2024 as an apprentice, training alongside Angie to gain practical experience in cat grooming. She completed her online coursework through the National Cat Groomers Organization. Before discovering her passion for cats, she spent 20 years in the medical field. The COVID-19 pandemic prompted her to pursue her love for animals, especially cats. Lauren grew up with a golden retriever named Danny but didn't appreciate the charm of cats until she met her husband Chris in 2006. Chris had four beloved cats: Spooky, Karma, Turtle, and Leo. Now, Lauren is the proud owner of nine cats: Stinky Bird (17), Dook (16), sisters Willow and Piggy (8), Meeko (4), brothers Ron and Harry (2), and Maine Coon brothers Blaze and BoBoddy (1). She is an advocate for raw feeding and holistic care for her feline family. On the human side, her daughter Riley is a senior at MSU, pursuing a degree in Zoology with a specialization in Big Cat Conservation. Lauren married Chris, a musician who plays guitar, keyboard, and sings lead vocals for the local band Planet of Fun, in 2012. When not at work, she enjoys cuddling with her cats at home and watching her favorite show, The Office. |
